Off road bikes
There was one on ebay and I fancied a pop at it. Seller said it has new
engine so I asked if the V5 had been updated and he said no.

I thought about it and realised I should have asked if it actually had a V5.

Does an off road bike still need a V5?

If it's only used on private property, no. If it's ever used on
the 'public highway', yes.

If its ever been on the road it would have had a V5 (and most 'off road'
bikes are street legal or were at some time).
It could then have been sorned but would still have a V5.

Ebay is full of off-road and track bikes with no V5 or frame numbers,
despite the fact they have obviously been nicked at some point in
their life.

Unless you are certain its a bike that never would of been road legal
from new be very careful
