Quite a few round here - the pics are generally ok but the captions are
mostly way off.
Cheerio,

Went around the corn areas yesterday, corn starting to go to depots about
2pm, I was told that one load went into Roscrea at 28% moisture. A friend
that works for a machinery supplier described how the bearings for a crimping
machine that they supplied keep heating up, almost ripe wheat being
crimped and acidified at 25-29%, very discoloured, large tractor driving
the PTO at high revs. One cringes at the fuel costs. Was quoted 10-10-20
(UK equivelent would be about 10-25-21) over 700 euros a tonne.
We are Doomed.. must paint up a sign and parade in front of Brown Thomas
telling people that. (BT would be a slightly cheaper version of Harrods)

I printed off a few pics of my neighbours farm to show him. They are
all by the same guy. He pointed out that the pic of his upper sheep
folds is prior to them being rebuilt so the pic must be more than 14
years old. However, the pic of his footbridge was taken after he
widened it to take a quadbike which means it is less than 18 months
old. This chap really gets about! Must have a bike!

He has posted 18 thousand odd pics to this site, over 100 in the last
week from the Llanddona area of Anglesey.

very slow around here. One man was saying that there is little lodging
yet, but it seems that individual wheat stems are breaking. About 20%
(rough estimate) cut, central Leinster, some fitting tracks on the
combines. P&K gone insane.

The mackerel is in at Trefor so I went with some friends last night to
try my luck. I last fished more than 20 years ago. I stopped at
eleven after seeing someone catch 3 on one hook!.
The sun came out in the hour before sunset. The first sun I have seen
for 10 days. Went back home into the mist. Guy just carrying the
last few wrapped bales from a field outside Trefor as we were going
home. The field was rutted up terribly in his desperation to get it
in. Raining again this morning. Cloud down below 400 feet. Even
when it isn't raining, nothing dries up at all with no wind.

Finished the wheat last night, now its on to our neighbours. It
seems to be record yields all round, our neighbours all trying to
squeeze as much corn as possible into the sheds. Apart from the
depressing effect on price, a good problem to have.
Remarkably little laid corn this year, virtually none despite high
yields and heavy August rains. I think everyone was a bit generous
with growth regulators after last year.
