Google Fees and VAT
Hi,

im a bit confused about Vat.. and the fees charged by Google (and
paypal for that matter)

say i sell an Item for 251.87 net on my website here in th uk to a uk
customer I am obliged to collect 17.5% VAT on behalf of her majesties
government, £44.08 in my example giving a total of £295.95 to collect.

Now google will charge me fees of 1.5% £0.15 on the gross value
(£4.59). To my mind this doesn't seem correct as they are charging
their fees on top of the tax I am collecting on behalf of the
government.

surely the Google fees should be based on the net value??

Any thoughts anyone... / can someone put me straight on this.

thanks

The same thing applies if you have a credit card merchant account -
the card acquirer percentage is applied to the gross amount.

Why - do you just want Google to process the
'net' part of the payment, and not the VAT part?
