SMP and redundancy
Hi all

Looking for some information please

I have been working for my employer for 2 years 3 months

I am 22 weeks into my maternity leave and my employer has closed the
business wear I worked and might be making me redundant as there is no job
for me at there other premises

My question is who will pay my SMP does the employer still have to pay it or
will I need to go to the DHSS

Thanks

M

Only your employer pays you SMP. If employment is terminated there is
no more SMP after that date.

I'm not an expert on that side but I would assume that is the logic
because if you are arrested or sent to prison SMP is terminated
(simply arrested seems harsh!).
