Ignition Lead problems '97 2.5 Transporter
The ignition leads have failed every 15-20k miles on this vehicle (including
the first time when it was a day or two out of warranty!

Problem was solved at 60k by the installation of solid copper leads, but
these were replaced with original eqpt. during the 125k service (unnoticed
by me), as the mechanic wanted to rectify the radio interference!

now at 140k, and it has happened again. is this common... or is there
something we have missed? first one or two cylenders drop out for a while,
then recover. Now wont start... just the occasional fire during cranking.

Any ideas appreciated.
(PS the van has an LPG conversion, which means the spark has to be good.
During the period the leads are failing, switching to petrol helps a bit)
