theres also a couple of dervy octavia taxis lurking about but there both
sheds and not worth bothering about

currently the 309 has been slightly modded headwork cam full stainless and 4
branch and a few choice tweaks here and there running circa 150 bhp

the cupra is sitting with a revo remap magnex decat/milltek unresonated
system forge DV007 and a BMC CDA induction kit circa 270 horses and a
pitiful 25mpg :(

future plans are all 309 based(the LCR is only getting cosmetic work(paint
restoration/wheel refurb) and i'm toying with megasquirt and bike bodies for
the pug as soon as i brush up my soldering skills

so come on guys what you got atm ?

Yes, but it only comes out on occasional weekends. He's into repmobiles
these days, and seems to have bought what I consider a nice bike.

Running an E270CDI here - no mods yet...

Well the daily driver is an Ibiza FR TDi, then I still have the 1.8T Polo
project, and all the old VWs (T25 camper, 181, T14 Karmann Ghia, T3 Notch,
G40, Mk2 Saloon).

Things went downhill after I sold you the BX. I sort of inherited a
Peugeot 306 Estate. Possibly the slowest car in production in 1998.

I suddenly found the will to live again around March last year and I got
a Mazda MX-5.

It's brilliant.

The Alfa 75 still gets out and used on weekends / holidays and sometimes
track days (did 5 last year, haven't got my act together this year to do
any yet. Must resolve that soon).

The 156 is still Katie's daily driver.

My Passat repmobile goes back in October and will be replaced by
something more interesting. S-Type, 9-5 Aero or 407 Coupe are favourites
at the moment.

Sold my VFR to JackH and bought a Ducati 750SS.

Don't worry about your 25mpg, that's all I get too :-) But, I do use all of
the revs, all of the time (except when it's cold - when even if I wanted to,
I couldn't, because the rev limit drops to 7,000rpm heh - I tested this on a
red one I test drove).

After the 206 went, I had the Clio V6 Mk1, which was fun to own, and made me
feel like a celebrity in town (people with camera phones and stuff, no
shit). But, it wasn't that fast, and it didn't handle 1/10th as well as my
new car - the cornering speeds were hugely slower. And it wasn't me just
being a fag, tested at speed round a local massive, very flat and smooth,
roundabout, I wasn't able to keep up with my mates Corsa VXR at all, he
literally stormed away, this is with the Vee at the point where the back is
on the edge of sliding, skipping a little bit and generally giving all the
"You're about to have a big crash" signs. Now my new/current car, was not
only able to keep up with him, but when I lead, I pulled a few car lengths
lead on him!

And this is my current car now -

http://www.danbayes.com/gallery/albums/GroupHotHatches%20-%2031-05-08/group04.jpg

People can definately see me coming hehe! And here is me on The 'Ring,
taken by some pro -

http://www.danbayes.com/gallery/albums/TheRing/ProShot_TheRing.jpg

It still has the watermark on there, because I didn't want to post the full
size one in case I infringed copywrite or something, but I have bought the
full size - as it was only 5 euros, and now I've had it printed in A3 size
and last night in fact I got round to putting it in it's new frame and now
tmrw I'm going to put it on the wall above my bed - it's awesome :-)

That photo, lead to this...

http://www.danbayes.com/gallery/albums/R27/r27europe06.jpg

And then to these...

http://www.danbayes.com/gallery/albums/R27/r27europe13.jpg

http://www.danbayes.com/gallery/albums/TheRing/ring107.jpg

http://www.danbayes.com/autobahnspeedo.jpg :-)

It was still pulling quite well, but there was traffic approaching in front
:-( Max power is made at 7,250rpm, 7.5krpm limiter, and we kept going for a
little bit after that till the speedo was at about 140 and TomTom was saying
137 hehe! It's a shame we didn't get more emtpy autobahn, I'm certain it
would hit the limiter... Probably approaching 150 on the clock...

Of course, that goes without saying. It's a modified corsa SRI. I've removed
the speedline 16"alloys, raised the suspension and replaced the airbox. Just
in the process of removing the black tints but I'm keeping the stainless
exhaust. :)

I'm not taking the piss, off the top of my head I can think of quite a few
cars in here I'd take that over! Assuming all the mods came with it... Just
for, erm, eBay purposes of course. I'd never put them back on *whistle*
hehe! Come on now, those of you who are about to mock, I'm not the only on
in here to have the odd strange/perceived as crap, car vice.

Allessio Speedlines? Corsa B SRi, soooooo, 1.4 16v IIRC (The 1.6 was a
Sport or a GSi I think...) - must be a B to have been put on 16's though, as
the C needs 17s if you're going for the big wheels look. Bet it looked
something a bit like this -
http://www.pistonheads.com/SALES/largepic.asp?i=576538&noPics=5&make=VAUXHALL&model=CORSA&imgsrv=1¤t=1 ?
I really like Speedlines, they're a really nice design and they suit Novas
and Corsa Bs really well IMO.

Why are you swapping it all as a matter of interest? I sit that, with the
greatest of not taking the piss, are you a bit old to drive such a machine
perhaps :-) ?

Passat 1.9 TDi Sport mapped to 173bhp and 273lb/ft of torque.

Honda VFR800Fi with K&N flat panel filter and ART race can - I need to
get it on the dyno with standard can and then the ART can at some
stage for a true picture of how much extra poke it has as a result of
the can, but it's definitely hitting the rev limiter with more ease
now, and has more top speed.

I actually suspect that the standard can is coked up, as I don't
believe the bike had really had a thrashing at all for the last six
years or so. ;-)

Some bastard has painted a load of white paint all over a A38 slip
road. Was 2 lane, now reduces to 1 lane 50m before the A38 and they
put a chicane in it. Couldn't be anything to do with me being the
fastest vehicle on the A38 while still on the slip road 2 weeks ago?

406 HDi remapped to 137ish brake, which is as dull as ditchwater, and the
MK2 GTI which is sat in the barn as I've no time to drive along with no cash
to tax and test it. I'm quite tempted to get the engine out and swap it for
an ABF but again, cash is a factor.

No1 son passed it on to me. I liked the wheels but once I raised the
suspension it looked silly and I couldn't stand the ride of it lowered. So,
beautiful 5 spoke wheel trims now adorn it. :p

Hi people,
Looong long time since I posted in 'ere.......*some* of you might remember I
my Manta coupe from days of yore (wasn't there a gallery of the cars online
somewhere?). Well, I've been through various motors since, couple of mkII
golfs, a polo glx etc etc. Now we've got a fire breathing beast of a car..

Actually, we haven't. I just don't have the time or the money or the
commitment these days, so, I drive a Polo FSI (3 door, sport (oxymoron that
one...)). The one with the 86 bhp motor. Its a completely uninspiring car
but it does handle surprisingly well - the spring and damper rates are solid
as standard so it remains very flat even when being pushed on through the
twistys. Spec level ain't to bad either so it looks like I'll be keeping it
for the foreseeable.

So, hi there folks.

So get some decent lowered springs / shocks then. ;-)

I've still got my Rover SD1 V8, which has been mod'd a bit. It's been
converted to manual, lowered, adjustable dampers, polybushed suspension,
polybushed gearchange remote, converted to SU carbs with K&Ns, big SS
exhaust and a nice Moto Lita steering wheel. At the weekend it should also
have some Vitesse alloys to improve the looks and stop the back end trying
to overtake the front when there's the slightest hint of a water droplet on
the road....

The other half is driving round a a 106 XSi 1.6 which we've just done a top
end overhaul on. Mod's are limited to GTi Raptor alloys and a Janspeed
exhaust. But it does 42mpg and looks good in our opinions so suits her
fine...

If money wasn't an object I'm sure I would but being a single parent with a
c*nt for a younger son it's not possible.. Meanwhile I'm looking for cheap
ways to make improvements....like loseing the spare wheel and emptying the
ashtrays :o)

Still got the turbo'd Rangie, also got an E30 325i Touring and somewhat
bizarrely, a 53 plate Fiat Doblo Cargo 1.9D van.

Didn't you sell that? What happened?

Bloke wanted me to get it near perfect and deliver it to him in London
without even forwarding the price of the petrol. When I mentioned that
it's a £160-£200 round trip in the Rangie from here and that I wanted
the fuel cash up front he went a bit quiet.

Really irritating thing is that I've spent days in the workshop fiddling
and adjusting things to get it blob on. Doing all those silly little
jobs that I wouldn't normally be bothered with, lubricating the bloody
sunroof guides and that type of stuff. It's probably better now than it
has been for 10 years, so taking it to London for some bloke to try and
haggle on the price isn't worth it.

I don't know what to do with it now, it's almost 100% sorted now. Still
needs the bonnet painting (lacquer has flaked all over the place with
the heat) and there's still a recurring exhaust blow from one of the
front pipes that pisses me off, but it's way better than most of the RR
Classics out there.

Thing is, it's right on the verge of being collectable, is very rare
indeed with all the bits on it, everything works, it's solid and
remarkably tidy and I think £1800 will be very cheap for it in the not
so distant future.
