Volvo T5 850
Anyone have any idea why a volvo 850 should light its brake lights
when the clutch pedal is depressed?
Its a p reg.

Hydraulic clutch? - check your brake fluid reservoir.

Cruise control? See if some muppet has swapped the brake light switch
from brake pedal to clutch pedal...

Doh!
I should read things more carefully - I read that as the brake warning
light, not the brake lights themselves.
That is an odd one.

The only thing I can think of is that the clutch pedal is moving the carpet
and somehow activating the brake light switch.

I would assume (possibly wrongly) that having a clutch pedal tends to
suggest it's a manual.

ITYF Mark W's post had a humorous intent.
If you normally only drive manuals, and then try an auto, the instinctive
reaction to depress the "clutch pedal" to change gear produces some
interesting moments...

or vice versa when you ram it into gear forgetting all about the clutch, or
brake heavily at a junction and wonder why it has stalled.
