Impreza pipe fitting problem   
A work colleague described to me how he's spent ages trying to fit a silicon 
pipe to his Subaru, it's the pipe between the turbo and inlet manifold and 
he's having severe problems making it go on.

Is there a knack to it?

Assuming it's actually the right size, washing up liquid smeared on the

Or silicone grease if he intends removing it in the future.
