SVA Question
Trying to sort out an SVA question but seem to be getting conflicting
answers. This is all hypothetical at the moment, we have a car that the
chassis is rotten on. We build a space frame chassis out of tubular
steel. We reuse the original car's engine, gearbox, steering, both front
& rear suspension including brakes, lights, dashboard possibly the
seats, basically everything but the shell, but making it a 2 seater
instead of 4. To legally put the 'car' back on the road what do we have
to do?

Same scenario but make the vehicle into a pickup type vehicle with a
flatbed at the back, again same question?

We intend not to use any parts from any other vehicle, but may use new
suspension parts if worn & similar with the brake parts if worn.

Hope someone has the right answer, it was so much easier in 1982 when I
built the Dutton.

The only way to not have to SVA it, is to replace the chassis with another
of the same design and from the original manufacturer.
