Carburetor cold start - how does it work with LPG?
I have a problem with cold start with my Pierburg 1B2 carburetor (on a
'87 1.6 litre BMW). I also have two sets of two horizontal (side-draft)
carburetors, Dellorto DHLA 40 and Solex PHH 40 (that many years ago was
used in engine like my M10 1.6).

Pierburg has fully automatic choke. I was told that I need to replace
waxstat and another electrically heated device (~170 EUR). That *may*
help. Since I do not want to throw away money, and I have sidedrafts
that I can use, I willing to try.

First I have to choose which carbs to use. And there comes my question.
How does cold start system work with LPG? With petrol, when starting
from cold, you add more fuel to passing air (at least that is how I
understand it).

But with LPG you have mixer in front of strangler butterfly, and amount
of LPG at idle is adjusted at evaporetor, independent of carburetor
cold start system.

Back to choosing sidedrafts. Solex PHH has standard strangler
butterfly, but Dellorto DHLA has starter disk. Dellorto is in better
condition (newer), but I do not knew if it's cold start system will
work with LPG.

Can someone explain how it works, or perhaps give me URL where I can
find more information?
