Help! RR 3.5 Efi system
I recently bought an '87 Range Rover EFi auto with most of an LPG system
fitted.
According to the chap I bought it from the LPG system had been "switched
off", and he'd never used it anyway as there wasn't an LPG station near
enough to his house to make it worthwhile, as the Rangey was cheap enough I
figured it was worth taking a chance on.
I'm not sure which system is fitted to it, there's what appears to be an 80
litre tank in the boot, the traditional switch with LED's in for petrol /
gas switchover, and the vaporiser is under the bonnet. However, the
vaporiser isn't attached to anything at the moment, and there's a new mixer
ring in the boot in a box of bits that all appear to be LPG related -
there's a couple of 4cyl injector emulators there for example.
Before I actually checked the system I'd already flicked the Petrol / LPG
switch over to gas to see what happens - I like to live dangerously.. The
switch module seems to be operating correctly, it flashes the LPG light
until the engine has been revved to about 1500 rpm and the throttle
released, then clicks over to the gas setting. Fortunately the tank solenoid
doesn't start puking LPG everywhere. The engine still runs as well, so the
petrol injectors are connected no matter what.
As I know bugger all about LPG apart from the absolute basics - how it works
on a simple level, how to use it etc, I thought I'd ask the group for
recommendations as to how to get the LPG working again.
If recommendations are to take it to SWK, then if someone could point me in
the direction of SWK near Liverpool that's cheap and friendly I'd be happy
to do so.
