Chains
Years ago, I was told by a LandRover employee that if you only have
one pair of chains available for your 4x4, they should be fitted to
the rear wheels. My local 4x4 mag has just published an article
saying they should be fitted to the front (which always seemed logical
to me, so you can steer, but I trusted the LR guy's expertise).

Who is right? Or is there no "right", it's personal preference on
whether you want to be able to go, or steer?

If it makes a difference, the context is a permanent 4x4, not
switchable.
