Smokey Exhaust

Hi Guys
I have a 2005 Grand Vitara 2.0 TD diesel, 12,000 miles on the clock. I have 
noticed when I accelerate hard in 3rd gear doing about 55mph 4000rpm, I have 
some smoke coming from the exhaust.
Is this normal.
