I didn't know that 'our' national tree was the oak, either, and most
kids wouldn't need to know what a magpie is, sadly enough. Should we
pester them to become more interested in nature? In my experience they
all still are, if they get half a chance. Even the kids who scream and
run away from anything more icky/vicious than a leaf. <g>
