Proposal
I was watching that Dispatches prog about the cost of food, and the
bit about how City folk can speculate on food prices has prompted me
to come up with this proposal: Humans are too stupid to live.
Thoughts?

I'm amazed we lasted as long as we have. :) I don't think it's stupidity
though. I think people are afraid of the truth.

Statements that correspond with reality.
One way or another Humans will be on the way out within 50 years. What

We bet on the price of our food. *Food*. Some folk are more concerned
with pushing the gold around than with ensuring there is food. And
most of the rest of the world lets them get on with it, or even buys
(ha!) into the idea that this is a good way to behave. What a
thoroughly stupid species. We invent all these marvellous means of
transport, we can communicate across an entire planet, and the best we
manage to do collaboratively is the stock market. Wow.

Engineers and scientists, for now.
By the time politicians become involved it will be a done deal.
The exit routes are named "genetic engineering" and "artificial
intelligence". Right now full neural simulations of the visual cortex
are being run on supercomputers - that's 10% of the processing power of
the Human brain. The aim is for a total realtime simulation by 2015.

No. I didn't misunderstand you. The truth in this concept is that people
live in a comfort zone and would rather live in a comfort zone where there
is a corrupt system rather than daring to fix it and that goes al the way to
the top. Like you said, people buy into this and why? Not because they are
stupid but because they don't want to know that this system of ours is a
toilet of corruption. where greed and shittingon your fellow man financially
is actively encouraged and where people are lebelled a success because they
have a lot of money and despite the fact that they've probably raped mother
earth and thier kindred humankind to get it. Damn, man it's a fucking
sickness..

I have dreams - evil dreams. I sometimes ruminate on the possibility of
culling chunks of society.
And before anyone gets hoity toity about "who are you to decide who gets the
chop" its only a blimmin daydream. And besides I vote the chavs get eaten
first, although they probably taste nasty.
On a more reasonable note - I have at least started growing some of my own
fud - first raspberry yesterday. Only one tho, so maybe this
self-sufficiency lark is not gonna happen overnight... with one tiny yard...
and a couple fo raspberry bushes in pots..... but there are lots and lots of
overfed chavs in my street :-D

Move to the Outer Hebrides.
Loads of wind power, cheap land.
No people (or rather, very low pop density)

Not that bad.
Annual rainfall is around 1m per year.
Catch it from 100 sq m of roof and you have 2 tonnes a week to play with.

You could always process your own urine if you run out of water and if you
fancty a foam moustache you can only remove with turps. ;)

That's lo-tech living for you.
They should try the alternative, with plenty of energy and custom
catchment ponds.

Random lottery. If my number's up, tough shit to me.
Besides, in general chavs seem happy and that has to count for a lot.
Maybe intelligent thought is not quite the bonus humans thought (ha)
it to be.

Ooh, lovely. I like raspberries. :-) Strawbs here, in drips and drabs.
The rhubarb has gone mad, but various tomato plants are looking so-so.
There is a courgette forming on the plant though, and where there is
one courgette there are boudn to be many others soon. :-)

I'm >< close to proposing a communal farm fund, I'm fed up of all this
supermarket stuff and 'thou shalt have a tiny amount of outdoors to
grow food on' attitude from housebuilders and developers.

No nutrition to them though, it'll all be fat and junk. Put them on
the barbecue and they'll be like giant sausages, lots of fat and
popping noises.

Indeedy. Although their interim solutions seem to be pretty high tech,
really - bottled water and paper plates, all these things take quite a
bit of processing.

Acquisition of knowledge.
Better computing systems.
Self learning programs.
Pattern recognition for AI.
Cybernetic symbiosis with neural implants.
Finally, uploading of minds.

A place where you store the rain from the whole year.
In winter use it in conjunction with a heat pump to keep the place warm.
Followed by things like UV sterilisers for drinking water.

Fixing the problems.

Hmm indeed. Here's another Hmm. For you.Am I right in thinking that a long
time ago you came to the conclusion that our species is generally crap at
being a species, working together, living together etc etc but when you came
to this conclusion, when other people came to the same conclusion than
rather than be happy that others have comprehended what we're really and be
happy that you are not alone, are you threatened that other people see it so
you attempt to ridicule them? Is that what's going on here. Are you so
insecure you can't stand that people finally get what a load of crap we are?
Am I on the ball here?
