Please appease the mecha gods
Ok, I realise this probably just shifting my problems into the future (Kinda
like how I asked Eris not to be active in my this time last year, but when
she got back at giftmas I've had double since then), but if anyone is on
nodding aquaintance with the gods of mecha, could they ask them to look
favourably on my car next week as it is going for a water pump replacement.
If it isn't too much trouble could they make it quick and cheap (for a
change).
I wonder why the mecha gods hate me so?

Water pump shouldn't be too pricey to start with. If they tell you it
is they're fibbing. Still, fingers crossed and all that.

Dunno if they do. Perhaps they liek you and hate your cars. :-)

Two words:
Renault parts.
Actually it isn't so much the parts as labour, it's a bloody fiddly job that
involves taking part of the engine off to get to another part. It sucks.
Plus small town prices IYKWIM. Competition is just a collection of vowels
and consonants round here.

Hate my cars, hate me. Its kinda package deal really. Besisdes when you
add it to the gremlin that is mucking about with my electrical stuff and the
house goblins that keep nicking my earrings, and the procrastination fairy
that steals my creative spirit and ability to write, well it's beginning to
feel a mite personal right now.

Have you had a "word" with Vulcan, god of engineers and artisans and
smiths? might work.
Isn't there a god called ( iicrc ) Hyphestus? Not sure about the spelling
tho.

According to the infallible Wikipedia:
Hephaestus ... was a Greek god whose Roman equivalent was Vulcan;
he was the god of technology, blacksmiths, craftsmen, artisans,
sculptors, metals and metallurgy, and fire.

As I seem to recall from clear back in the 1970's, not even the most
powerful of deities can deal with a Renalt. (Some cars are less
mechanic-unfriendly, but I don't think any contemporary ones are
mechanic-friendly.)

House goblins aren't that bad. For the price of an earring, or car keys or
whatever it is that goes missing (they also seem to like socks) they protect
the house for much worse things. If youreally yell and scream at them to
give whatever it is back, they often do, but then they'll sulk for a while,
and hte place won't seem so happy or safe.
I think its a fair deal. Besides, they amuse the cats no end at night
<yawn>, I think they live down the bathroom & shower drains (the covers of
which are always removed when I get up in the morning).

Toyotas are the world's most boring, lacking personality car. They aren't
'really good' at anything. Adequate at accelerating, adequate at braking,
adequate at turning, sound system adequate. The outer & inner design is
nothing exciting, just adequate. They truly are a boring fuddy duddy car.
But they are exceptionally reliable.
(My Dad has had his Corolla since 1983, and it still gets him to the sorts
of places where other people would only use 4 wheel drives)
