Problems with posts
Anyone else having vanishing posts issues? I know I am evil for using
outlook but I like to view my groups in the way outlook presents them. I
find the Google site to be a bit weird to find my way around. Is outlook to
blame or is it Virgin media?

Might well be Virgin in that case, I'm with them too and have seen very few
posts over the last week or so

I seem to remember something about Virgin (since it's now
NTL-infested) being a bit poo recently. <:-/ There must be a
reasonable alternative about.

Ta for the replies peoples - I was thinking I had turned into a ghost or
something.
Must be Virgin playing silly beggars - I had far less bother when it was NTL
funnily enough.
Did you get my post on the Bokashi composter? It vanished from my posts.

I had no hassle with Virgin when it was Virgin - the combination seems
to be the bad thing. :-(

Re: Problems with posts
Hi Jo,
I am relatively new here (been lurking for a few months after finally
figuring out how to get O.E (Outlook Express)to show news groups) but most
of your posts (that weren't here a couple of weeks ago have magickly
appeared, so hopefully Virgin has sorted out their probs (nothing wrong with
using outlook (at least it is easie to block flamewars (when they become to
boring))

Oh jolly good :-D
I'm currently in the process of building my own wormery to see if the
Bokashi contents will go on that. Its all go here! Plus I have yet to get
any client hours for my counselling placement. Aaaand, I'm hoping to get a 9
week old kitten on Monday next week. Can you imagine the chaos?

Unfortunately though with OE it is not as easy to remember to post
underneath the text you're responding to. :-) It's a local convention
to do so though, so if you wouldn't mind...?

that on the first attempt. <g>

A couple of other pointers while we're here. You can snip out extra
text that isn't being referred to, hence the <snip>s further up there
^ It'd also be great if you could snip sigs, which is generally
everything after "--<space><return>" (like the quote just up there ^).
Apart from that, I believe you're good to go. :-) So, what brings you
to URP?

Wotcha. We don't get many Aussies here; in fact, I think Yowie's the only
one, so far.

Thanks for more useful advice (and I thought that URP was only going to be
full of information useful to understanding Paganism :) ). The reason that I
am here is that this seems to be the only Pagan Usenet group which seems to
be full of decent, and rational person (No sign of a malicious troll or
flame baiter anywhere). So i thought there might be useful info contained in
the various threads (hopefully the right term) here (as well as getting
useful advice from others).
Cheers (and thanks for the great advice)

If it wasn't for the fact that Yowie is a fellow Aussie, I probably would
have stayed as a lurker. But seeing that you are willing to have decent and
rational interaction with we Colonials :), I finally stepped up to the plate
and responded (I really prefer staying in the background unless addressed or
if I feel I have something useful to say (though in this being a Taswegian
as the mainlanders call us sometimes I am wrong in this))

Welcome in, pull up a beanbag and grab a beverage. We do seem to be ok for
trolls (touch every available bit of wood) but keep the spam filters busy.
To be fair I think spam is on th eincrease universally.

Oof. That's a tall order, that is. <g> Which bit, for a start? You
Pagan yourself or curious about it all?

Ah, you've found alt.pagan then? ;-)
We do get the odd troll wandering through, and we can be heated in the
discussions, but we don't tend to start questioning each other's
parentage and intelligence and all that sort of thing - i.e. flaming
each other.

I am a Pagan (actually more of a hedge-witch), but there are many
different branches of Paganism, and I have always been interested in the way
other people approach things.

Unfortunately yes (during MI'5 Victim's reign of terror there). For a
Pagan group alt.pagan has quite a few Xtians there who seem to enjoy

Pfft. That man couldn't terrify a fly. He gets around, and is usually
soundly ignored. My server doesn't even carry his posts.

To be fair, the last time I was there (the first group I found on
usenet, as it happens) the resident pagans were generally not a good
advert for themselves either. :-) It's an interesting place,
sometimes. Not been in in years.

There can be. Once of the things I've got to remind myself is that I
don't need to accept other opinions as true though - they're still
just opinions.
