[ADMIN] useful things, charter, FAQs etc
This is an automatic weekly post of various things useful to know.
The topic of this newsgroup is "Christianity in the UK".
This is a moderated newsgroup, which means posts are automatically transformed
by your local newserver into mails to the moderator who checks them with the
charter for acceptability and then posts them for real. Before the moderator
sees them there's a moderbot program which operates a greenlist system;
automatic responses by the moderbot will go to whatever address is posted
with. There is scope for problems with this: if your posts aren't getting
through one idea is to try posting via Google.
The essence of the charter is to define what's on-topic and to give the
moderator the ability to do something about posters being personally abusive.
Enforcing it is intended to be at the minimum intervention required to keep
the group useful for on-topic discussion, as opposed to being at the maximum
intervention possible to make things nice. People being "Christian" etc
towards each other is not in the charter nor is the moderator's responsibility
but is the posters'.
The moderator is at uk-religion-christian-request@usenet.org.uk (currently
Mark Goodge).
