Did John Paul II perform a miracle? Am I Mother Teresa? - Matthew Parris: My Week
During Holy Week we are treated to a variety of decent-sounding people
in print and on the airwaves explaining that religion - or "faith" as
they now prefer to call it - is basically all about shared moral
values, making the world a better place and gaining a proper sense of
awe at life's mystery. We are given to understand that the great world
religions are all really fumbling towards the same truth....

Humph. "Miracles" are just gimmicks that get packaged up teaser
advertisements for the gullible. It's like frickin lens flares in games -
used to hook peoples attention and sell them a generic box of shite. Then
we've got the list of "Saints", who are just another Hall of Fame, that
thang that's used to give Catholicism a sense of credibility and longevity,
like it's not just "entertainment".
So, the fan boys want Dawkins et al to quit moaning? Sure, I can go along
with that as arguing is a waste of time, but the second a better alternative
starts to gain traction the double marketing hit they get off conflict will
fade, market share will shift, and they'll be whining again. Not content
with their "tithes" or "subscription fees", they'll be begging for state
subsidy, like some cheap buggy whip company.
/End rant.

fade, market share will shift, and they'll be whining again. Not content
with their "tithes" or "subscription fees", they'll be begging for state
subsidy, like some cheap buggy whip company.

Humph. "Miracles" are just gimmicks that get packaged up teaser
advertisements for the gullible. It's like frickin lens flares in games -
used to hook peoples attention and sell them a generic box of shite. Then
we've got the list of "Saints", who are just another Hall of Fame, that
thang that's used to give Catholicism a sense of credibility and longevity,
like it's not just "entertainment".

starts to gain traction the double marketing hit they get off conflict will
fade, market share will shift, and they'll be whining again. Not content
with their "tithes" or "subscription fees", they'll be begging for state
subsidy, like some cheap buggy whip company.
