Anyone got *opinions* or *Do's Dont's* re: WAP issues?
I'm going to take a look into WAP accessibility tomorrow and the method(s)
of redirecting an iPhone. Does anybody want to throw anything useful in?

No, but if you anything interesting I would be happy to sponge off your
work ;-)
I have a wml page set up per the instructions in "HTML for the World
Wide Web" by Elizabeth Castro. I get some hits on it every month but
have no knowledge of what they are using or if they even get to see
anything for that matter.

There is compensation for being old.
That is not having to worry about getting old.

The iPhone uses Safari and isn't reliant on WAP. Not sure if you were
implying it was. For the iPhone you just need to make sure you know how
big the screen is and can handle the page being rotated to landscape. You
can detect the phone and deliver different style sheets.
http://www.bravenewcode.com/wptouch/ is an amazingly good plugin for
wordpress which makes the blog really useable on the iphone. You could
check their code for what and how they do it.

Don't most phones these days accept HTML? Obviously you might want to change
the content/style of your site if it's visited by a mobile but even that's
fraught as I know some devices are capable of displaying for more than we
sometimes give credit for.

Yes, I am going to run my initial test on crackguitar (as usual) with a mini
version. ie cut the masses of worldwide tuition out and just keep local
business promo, making for a small screen nav menu.
Script guy Ben says he's come across a bit of PHP that sits on every page
and talks to the browser about personal issues but I've not got cracking
yet.

<snip the WordPress help>
http://www.iphonecompatible.net/design-tips-tools/iphone-safari-screen-dimensions-layout/
I doubt sites containing glamorous sized display images are going to work
down to 356w by changing the style sheet, unless the display is any good at
it's own image resizing. eg; img {size: 33%}
The single best CSS controllable method then would be entirely sheet defined
BGimages of appropriate sizes behind transparent gifs giving no resize
quality loss. Anybody gone that far yet?
(My biggest problem with CrackG is I don't think I can just swap a style
sheet for the software generated drop-menu. I'd rather create a brief nav
strip for a window that small anyway.)
