It is nice enough, and mercifully simple and easy to use. In fact, I
love this sort of clean look. Well done for that.

Some technical things and other things:

Check the CSS in a validator and fix up minor points and warnings.

Use CSS for the table styles and get rid of HTML attributes as far as
possible.

Don't use transitional doc type, you are not transitioning from anything
but probably using it to get valid as an aim in itself. Don't. Use 4.01
Strict.

Don't use points as units, that is for print not monitors. Use em or
percentage. I would say to use 100% main text and go for maximum
usability. The user will decide what is 100% for him or her (more or
less)

You don't need nor should you really be using tables to lay this page
out. It is not the biggest crime but it is not best practice. Tables are
for showing relationships between lists.

One of the practical benefits of moving away from tables, for example,
is that you might well float your *blocks* of stencil images and that
would let the blocks wrap and allow for people to have more info showing
in narrower window and avoid the dreaded horizontal scrolling.

Home comes across a bit too disorganised to be honest. Consider a different
arrangement of diagrams against text to balance them better, or you could
turn the list of stencils into a full <UL> to make it stand clearer and fill
more of the empty page area.

Hi Paul,

While the home page gives all the information potentially required by a
customer, it's poorly laid out: there's too much clutter on the page and the
eye jumps around the page looking for an anchor point. Most visitors to a
web site will give it just a few seconds to work out what it's about before
moving on somewhere else.

You might consider simplifying the layout by taking the images in the two
columns on the left and converting them to a fading slideshow (check out
www.projectseven.com for some good examples) which are clickable to a
gallery/shop system. Adding a small amount of coding complexity will do a
lot to improve the visual impact, and might add to your sales.

Thanks all, I've put a temporary updated version at
http://www.electronics.sandrila.co.uk/index2.php
that resizes better and uses divs.

Better, maybe; but, in Firefox 3.0.11, not entirely right.

If you had left the font at my preferred size, I'd not want to resize
that page. (<http://www.eversley-hants.co.uk/> is a lot worse.)

The message box in "Contact us" is unnecessarily small, though not as
bad as is traditional.

Have you considered testing pages with one or more validators?
