Chrome
Wise old chinese proverb says that something cant just be the same - it
needs to be better for users to make the change .
500,000,000 people installing it only for a quick look at it means jack
shit at the end of the day .

I'm just uneasy about the potential hegemony it creates: people already use
Google for 80% of their search operations. God knows what percentage of
small content providers use AdSense. If Google corral the public into using
their browser and doing things in a "Google" way then we're going to be even
more beholden to the them.

Apparently the (privacy) option in IE v8 beta 2 screws up google ads as
it prevents certain information from being sent .
Well done microsoft .

I saw this on News24 earlier. I knew 'somebody' would be marching the picket
line with a megaphone.
Everybody hates a monopoly don't they, but every IT company with weight is
doing there part to kick Bill Gates in the balls. If Chrome sucks, it sucks
and users will notice, it's not like it comes built in.

I appreciate the underlying sentiment that Google is getting very big and
powerful, and not as morally squeaky clean as it set out to be. Add to
that the fact that Google has been financially supporting Firefox: I
wonder how that will be in the future?
But there are two important differences from another perpetrator of lock-
in hegemony I can think of:
1) Chrome is standards compliant enough to pass the Acid2 test (not
Acid3, though, it seems)
2) It's open source. Anything anyone doesn't like about it can be
changed....
So far, I like it...

and that's got the audience of the american teenager.

Even Google Analytics is still recording Chrome as Safari (well it was
a few hours ago). For a very obvious reason the user agent strings are
very similar and the analysis configuration needs to be updated to
detect the difference.
