Add to favorites according to server stats
How the hell can server stat generators even estimate how many people are
adding your site to their favorites/bookmarks?
To ask in a different manner;
Is this statistic something that proficient webmasters (shut up krusty)
consider a worthwhile statistic to show their clients?

All web stats are useful depending upon you value for useful.
Richard
Web pages: http://www.caravanningnow.co.uk/ for caravanning,
http://www.rcole.org/ for my personal web site and
http://www.homeindorset.co.uk because I love the email address.

If a user visits a page from their bookmarks (or by directly entering
the URL in the browser, or by clicking on a link in a text email and
perhaps some other ways) their browser will not include a referrer
header (used to indicate which page the user clicked a link on to get to
this page). Perhaps said stat generators are lumping all requests which
have no referrer together and saying they are from bookmarks...

I wouldn't encourage a client to take note of it unless they understand
where it comes from and what it may or may not mean.

doesn't work if the line
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico" />
is in the web pages.

Well I'm getting a stat for it and I use that line... so it just makes it
incorrect then.
The stats do state "estimated".
