Parameter Filtering... proper term?
When you specify the price range etc and the long list gets filtered down.
What is the correct term for that? (I would need to know it to Google it)

Depends on the server software you are using for the data. I would
probably be getting the data from a database using some form of SQL in
which case the WHERE clause of a SELECT statement would do the job by
returning only those rows that meet the condition(s) specified in the
WHERE clause.

Narrowing ones range, being more specific, drilling down, focussing,
aducing...

Not 'Result Filtering' or something more specific?
Hmm.
It won't be me that does this task*, obviously, but it's something I want to
offer people like some of my local estate agents who's sites are years out
of date and don't offer the function of "What is your price range" before
viewing properties. Therefore I am looking for the common term it is
referred to as.

There is no common term other than filtering, but obviously this term has a
multitude of meanings, so you will need to be verbose. I'm afraid I can't
think of a phrase that is distinct yet will adequately descrive the process.

Just tell them the customers well be able to refine their search by
optional criteria like price range / bedrooms / property type and sort
the results by price in ascending or descending order.
Similar to rightmove.co.uk - you might not want to tell them that bit
unless they have already decided against rightmove because of the costs
:-)

'Critera', that's a more comfortable term to the layman's ear than parameter
anyway.

The site is bloody dreadful. They are managing their own photographs but not
shrinking them first. Even on 4mb broadband the pages take around 15sec to
load as some 240x180 display images (4 each page) are actually 2.5MB
each!!!!

Latin plural of "critterum", meaning "small creature"?
