FFS. This is getting beyond a joke. Recently there are more days when
there is at least one issue than clear days with none. Each issue seems
to be getting longer too. Always used to be a few minutes now they are
getting nearer to 30 minutes each time as this one was!

Grrr, you must be on NTL then ;)

Last night was the first one for a while to affect me. Only noticed
'cause I wanted access and got the dreaded 0.0.0.0 WAN IP and had to
reset the modem (via the web interface). Otherwise it normally
recovers by itself.
Agreed there are pretty much daily problems reported here but they
are BT problems that affect all ISPs not just A&A. A&A seem pretty
unique in reporting every time a BT BRAS falls over for a few seconds
or minutes. I've not been tracking which BRAS's fail but I think it's
generally different ones so the failures would affect a different
subset of customers.
It's not good if you happen to be connected via a wobbly BT BRAS that
repeatedly fails but don't shoot the messenger! The chances are you'd
be still in the same boat if you switched ISP as you'd still go
through the same wobbly BRAS but not know if the problems where ISP
or BT related.

Yes, I understand this but I am an AAISP customer so it is to them I
will complain.
Maybe it is because we have been spoilt in the *past* and used to
getting such good service, with very few interruptions, that recent
events seem a bigger PITA.
Saying that, if recent outages are down to BT, maybe when it was good,
this was also down to BT.
All I know is I am getting several disconnects a week and a few recently
have been for the 30 minute mark.

AAISP are not my messenger, They are my service provider. Phone, ADSL
email, web, dns. All of it. So who should I shoot? I am sure BT could
provide 3rd parties to blame too and I could easily come up with lots of
analogies why I should target any blame towards AAISP, my service
provider.
However it is all irrelevant to me. I just want a decent service.
>See Adrians posting "Why so many outages reports on here"
Yes, I had read it.
I am not sure my recent outages have been down to BT, though I am told
the problem reconnecting after them is. As far as I know there is no
issue with the BRAS I am on.

I've had a few affect me recently, but nothing significantly during my
working day. Some of my nightly batch tasks have harumphed a bit on
occasions.
However, after every such outage, my router reconnects at a slightly
higher synch rate, and I recently passed a milepost and got my BRAS rate
upped by 500. So keep them coming, chaps!
Seriously, I was going to ask why my synch rate should be creeping up. I
can understand it creeping down, as entropy degrades everything over
time, and more of my neighbours buy angle grinders. My only thought is
that something has better conductivity as the weather gets colder. it
works for superconductors, after all. Come the next ice age, I may be
getting 10Mbps!

Well, more than "creeping" now. I've gained a full 1000Kbps in the past
three weeks. The gremlins must all be busy polishing the joints and
tightening the connections all along my line. My BRAS has increased by
500 and another 500 is possible now.
When BT fixed my exchange card, up to three other local residents may
have had their service improved (each card in my exchange carries 4 ADSL
circuits). Perhaps something else in my exchange got fixed as a result
of someone else's fault, and this time I was the unwitting beneficiary.
