[Status] [Update #1] [info] Congestion issues in BT 21CN, progress

Update #1: 2009-10-20 10:39 BST
It seems that BT have managed to make some significant progress on
congestion with 21CN.
Apparently they did not have full visibility of all of the SVLANs (the
back-haul links) and so were not fully aware of congested links. They
now have full visibility and can manage when they get hot much more
quickly (i.e. without us having to tell them). They have upgraded some
760 SVLANs now and they should be able to share lists of hot SVLANs
with us, and other ISPs. (Our view is that they should just upgrade the
SVLAN rather than making lists)
We can confirm we are seeing usage levels on 21CN links to us back to
what they should be, and we are actually increasing capacity on 20CN
and 21CN our end this week. We will be adding more capacity end of next
week as well to ensure we continue not to be the bottleneck.
They have also made policy changes that increase the initial capacity
they deploy to exchanges which will help on newer exchanges, especially
where we have customers with bonded lines (who could previously wipe
out a whole exchange all by themselves).[IMAGE]
