  We are seeing problems on the RAS 21CN-BRAS-RED1-GI-B, since 08:48 this
  morning.

Is there any chance of getting these cryptic names deciphered, maybe 
just once at the beginning of each thread. I'm wondering:

   REaDing 	(close)
   REDhill	(miles away)
   REDmond	(home of some software outfit)
   … and so on.

I suspect all you really need to know is are you connnecting to it? And this 
you can find out from your control pages (above the usage graph near the 
middle.

We dont have a definition from BT, but I believe that one is :-

21CN  21st Century Network
BRAS  Broadband Remote Access Server
RED1  REDback BRAS, number 1
GI    GuIldford, I think
B     Not sure, may be site "B"
