First steps to new pipe
Published Mon, 11 Feb 2008 15:14:00 +0000
The first steps to getting the new pipe are that BT have asked us to be
on the trial for the new gigabit BT Central links. This is important
for us to test all aspects of our systems and provide BT with valuable
feedback.
It will mean that around 10 end users may be able to go on a trail for
ADSL2+ lines, but we do not have details yet. The trial is very
limited.
The key thing is that we can more from trial to full service the second
BT launch (expected late April) rather than being on a 3 month lead
time at that point. When launched we will already have hardware in
place and tested ready to go - so this is an important first step.
We are putting the new pipe in Telehouse North where we expect to set
up much more peering and transit links than we currently have in
Harbour Exchange. In the long run this will mean an even better service
to our customers.
We'll post more details of the trial when we can.
