Upgrade of new (C) mail server
Published Fri, 04 Apr 2008 12:41:00 +0000
As advised in the newsletter we are upgrading the newer mail servers to
use the new storage systems and operate as a pool of machines allowing
more throughput and higher performance.
We have completed the work on our test servers, and have also completed
the work on the D server which meant a short outage late last night
affecting a small number of customers. No email would have been lost.
We are now recycling the D server to be part of the new mail server
pool.
The C server is next. The work will mean you will not be able to access
the server for a short period while data is transferred.
We aim to carry out this work late at night or over a weekend. Other
than a short period when email is not flowing and pop3/imap/webmail
access is not available this should be pretty seamless.
We will then recycle the C server as part of the new mail server pool.
