ADSL2+ update
Published Mon, 09 Jun 2008 16:28:00 +0000
We are still expecting to have BT connect to us this week for the new
gigabit links some time the middle of this week. We hope to have the
first ADSL2+ trialists within a week of that. Most new phone lines for
this are now installed.
However, BT have confirmed today "Although IPStream Connect as a
product is scheduled to launch 31st July 2008, it is important to note
that current indications are that IPStream Connect will not be
supported by WBMC until late October / early November at the earliest.
Essentially WBMC have to undertake an infrastructure build in order to
support IPStream Connect. This is under regular review and BT hopes to
confirm a delivery date in due course."
As we expected following last weeks forum! This is a serious blow for
our plans. Once we have confirmed how well trialists line behave using
a mixture of different modems and routers we are planning to launch an
ADSL2+ service some time around end of July.
Our current plan is to launch new lower pricing for the new service at
the same time, if not before. We plan to then upgrade existing Max
customers to the new service and lower prices as each exchange is
available. This is dependent on how well the trial goes. We will post
more details closer to the time.
