Incoming Mail - C Server Update
Published Thu, 15 May 2008 12:22:00 +0000
Following the migration of email accounts on the C server on 26th April
we've now added further servers. The "C Server" is actually many
physical machines, currently 13.
There are now 5 servers handling incoming SMTP connections, 3 of these
are also used for POP3, IMAP and webmail. There are also 5 other
servers which solely run SpamAssassin to give spam scores to messages
and another server handling the 'Learning' and other miscellaneous
maintenance tasks. The actual file storage is handled by a separate
File Server with built in redundancy, which itself has a hot-spare.
This setup means that the "C Server" can grow as needed without
affecting any end user settings.
(People on the old A and B servers are welcome to move accross, see the
info on the bottom of http://aaisp.net.uk/)
