C Server Slow Down
Has anyone else noticed a slow down on the C server over the last few
days?
When I first moved to it (C) the performance was as good as the local
server on my LAN.
Just recently it is taking up to 15 seconds from when I delete a message
to it actually being deleted. I get a message that it is 'being moved to
Trash'. The same problem actually exists when I move any message between
folders.
This is using Thunderbird.

Yes, had a few issues and now a load of old deleted mail has appeared -
looks like some slight disk/file corruption to me?

Yeah, I see the exact same problem for about the last 3-4 days. I'm
also using thunderbird, but see the same thing when using the web interface.

Thanks for the replies and confirming it is not just me.
Today it is much worse. Now taking up to 30 seconds to delete/move each
email. Even just opening mail folders is taking much longer than I have
grown used to.
I can confirm the same results occur using squirrelmail.

I would have hoped someone from AAISP would have looked at this thread
by now!

You should check their planned work page, the following was
posted
on Wednesday at 11:37...

"The load on the 'C' IMAP/POP3 server has increased somewhat over
the
past few days, and is starting to cause a few problems, such as
timouts.

We will be doing some out of hours maintenance on the server this
evening
(Wednesday) to upgrade some of the software it's running.

At the moment we've disabled the 'learning' of messages in learn
folders,
but this will be enabled again in a few days time.

New Mail Server (D):
We are also in the process in building a new mail server to
complement
the C server, once this new server is live, some domains can be
moved
and new domains will be placed on the D server. The move of
individual
domain from C to D should be seamless and require no end-user
changes."

Thanks for that. I may remember to check there in the future.
Seems a bit better this morning so all is well.

A quite dramatic improvement here - not as fast as it used to be but more
than acceptable now, what was "upgraded" I wonder?

Thanks

They should get Tim to work harder.
I do *love* the A&A typos.
It shows there are real people there.

Sorry, Andrew has been on the case.
We are puzzled why load has gone up so dramatically.
We are working on this though, and should have some good news this week.
