Argh, all of Zen's consumer tariffs are now capped...
Was just considering an upgrade from my existing 512kbps contract with
Zen to 2Mbps and they've now only got three tariffs.

£25.99 Zen 8000 Active (upto 8Mb, 20Gb cap)
£35.99 Zen 8000 Pro (upto 8Mb, 50Gb cap)
£17.99 Zen Home 250 (256Kbps, unlimited)

I'm currently paying £24.99 for a 512Kbps connection, and our exchange
is likely to be a maximum of 2Mbps for some time. Back of envelope
calculations suggest I probably use about 20-24Gb of data a month so
the £25.99 tariff is probably going to cost me £1/Gb on those months
when I max out my tariff. I also don't like the fact that your
internet access is curtailled when you reach your limit until you
visit a special Zen page to authorise further charges.

Anyone recommend a 2MBps package (*MUST HAVE FIXED IP*) for £25/month?

Regards,
Jason.

http://www.ukfsn.org/adsl/maxallowance.html

30GB peak + 300GB off-peak, fixed IP, up to 8Mb for £20/month. They
resell an Entanet product which for me has been excellent so far.

Exactly who I was going to suggest.

Jason; I too, recommend UKFSN. Jason Clifford (who, essentially, *is*
UKFSN) frequents the alt.internet.providers.uk ng, and is always very
helpful.

All BT exchanges enabled for ADSL by BT Wholesale should offer "upto" 8MB
services from the end of March. The only exceptions are 150 odd exchanges
which are currently limited to 512K. See
http://www.btplc.com/News/Articles/Showarticle.cfm?ArticleID=09eed77b-c628-4f06-9f16-430df2c70a38
for some more details.

The actual speed you can get under ADSL Max depends on the quality of your
individual line.
