Shell provider for E-Mail only - recommendations
I'm looking for a provider that offers shell accounts primarily for
E-Mail. I want to use mutt to read my E-Mail, thus connect using ssh
to a Linux/BSD/Unix shell.
What I want that is slightly out of the ordinary is lots of disk
quota, e.g. 300Mb or 500Mb or so. I'm quite happy to pay a reasonable
amount for this.
I don't need web hosting or domain hosting or anything like that, just
a reliable and fast ssh connection to a shell command line.

I think you'll struggle to find such an offering without its also including
web hosting.
However, Black Cat Networks have a good reputation and offer this
<URL:http://www.blackcatnetworks.co.uk/services/shell>
which gives you 1GB of disk space (and other stuff that you don't want).

Hurricane Electric in Fremont California offer web hosting (which you
don't need) plus a shell plus 1GB for US$9.85 per month. They have
mutt, pine and elm (at least, those are the ones I checked just now --
keristor.net is hosted there). I don't know which distro they are
using, but it's Linux with a full development environment (including
Perl, gcc and tcl), accessible with ssh (only, no telnet insecure
access).
(I'm not connected with them except as a user -- I have the next account
type up, at US$25 per month with 5GB of disk...)
