You're missing the point. They block servers and then demand money to
accept mail from them. This is almost extortion. I have had the same
problem, again with a perfectly valid mail system (reverse DNS all in
place and so on).
And I have also seen a lot of spam out of Hotmail. I'm pretty sure
that some scumbag registers addresses in bulk and sells them to
spammers to use on a disposable basis.

Along time ago in the past perhaps.
These days very, very little spam comes from hotmail or live accounts.
My own experience is:
In my current spam trapped messages : 225 messages.
Number from hotmail accounts : zero
Number from live accounts: zero
This is yet another of these cases where if *you* repeat a lie often
enough you think it will be accepted as the truth.
Perhaps others would care to share their spam levels from those two
accounts and then we can see if it *is* a problem.
