ULM problems again
Is anyone else having problems posting to ulm? I have posted five
messages in the last week, most recently one in the thread "Criminal
damage/rights of way" at 16.46 yesterday. None of them have appeared
either in the group or in the "rejected posts" list.

Yes, I have noticed a few which didn't even appear after being accepted.
Maybe the sysadmin has been tweaking something?

No. I think I have even forgotten the password, it is such a long time ago

A few days ago I posted the same message repeatedly, actioned it through
moderation and observed that it never reached the group. In the end I gave
up. Most frustrating.

I had something similar happen a few weeks ago. I posted a message,
noticed it hadn't appeared on the list, checked the moderation site and
saw it had been approved. I wound back my news collection in case I had
a gap but it never appeared. I didn't repost it or mention it here as
someone else made the same point in a later posting.

I think this suggests an intermittent problem at the mail to news
interface which I think is gradwell.net

It seems to be intermittent for some people, but not for me. Either
everything I post goes through, or nothing does. At the moment it is
nothing, and has been for more than two weeks now. I suspect my ISP
may have got itself on somebody's blacklist again.

I think it would be useful if people distinguished between

messages getting to the moderators and being visible on the moderation
web pages as being accepted or white listed and not appearing

vs

those that the moderators have refused (I have had a few in the past and
moaned about them at times)

I think the issue here is the mail to news gateway. Any mail to news
service (and it is a service) is allowed to set its own rules, if
someone from your (or my or The Todal's or Adam's or anyone elses's) ISP
has been behaving badly the mail to news gateway can be closed.

Why would a mail to news gateway provider block some people? Usually it
is because they have broken a rule. Cross posting and other technical
issues are usually more important to serious providers of this useful
service.

I would like to suggest to RA, the ULM team and whoever it is that makes
the rules at gradwell that once a post has been approved for moderation
it should be allowed through the mail to news system.

Yes, I have noticed a few which didn't even appear after being accepted.
Maybe the sysadmin has been tweaking something?

No. I think I have even forgotten the password, it is such a long time ago
that I did anything at all.

Cross posting and other technical
issues are usually more important to serious providers of this useful
service.

I would like to suggest to RA, the ULM team and whoever it is that makes
the rules at gradwell that once a post has been approved for moderation
it should be allowed through the mail to news system.

man-accept-086152wnhoh hasn't made it past the mail-to-news gateway
provided by gradwell. It contains useful information.

I can't think of another way, except people noting here when a message

Cross posting and other technical
issues are usually more important to serious providers of this useful
service.

I would like to suggest to RA, the ULM team and whoever it is that makes
the rules at gradwell that once a post has been approved for moderation
it should be allowed through the mail to news system.

man-accept-086152wnhoh hasn't made it past the mail-to-news gateway
provided by gradwell. It contains useful information.

I can't think of another way, except people noting here when a message
goes missing, that gradwell might take notice that their mail-to-news is
Icelandic.
