Absolutely.  I can quite see why you would be worried that I was
broadening my mind control implant programme to uk.misc, having
already forcibly enslaved nearly all of the cyclists uk.* and all of
chiark's users.

Is this an uncharacteristic attempt at humour, or simply more sarcasm?

I've asked elsewhere, but worth repeating:  Do you and your
acquaintances within chiark believe it's unreasonable for
Neurotypicals to assume all posters have a sense of humour?

A little unreasonable to assume that all posters have the *same* sense
of humour, perhaps.

I will admit to being on the autism spectrum, however.  And it seems
to come out far more online than in person.

Me too:  suffering fools gladly is especially difficult. For the 
avoidance of doubt, this is in no sense relating to the previous poster 
(an implication that I have just realised could be inferred).  I think 
the last sentence is a triumph of empathy and I am very proud of it.
