It's not your name, it's your nym.  There is a clear and distinct 
difference, which I'm surprised[1] that you cannot see.

One's name is generally acquired without one having a choice in the 
matter.  It depends on to whom one is born, or sometimes on to whom one 
is married.

A nym is a matter of absolute choice.

If you deliberately chose the nym you have without taking into account 
that, when you act like a dipstick, this specific reference will be made 
- then you have nobody to blame but yourself.

If you deliberately chose the nym despite realising this - then you have 
no cause to whinge.
