It doesn't have to be in batches, and it very usually isn't. That was a
fiction of Wm...'s. Occasionally, when there are dual votetakers, it is
theoretically possible that acks might be sent out in batches; but I
don't remember it ever happening, and it's very unlikely, because it
doesn't take two to agree in order to ack a vote. This is because an
ack is not an irreversible approval/acceptance of that vote; it is
simply an acknowledgement of receipt. The vote can be approved or
disapproved afterwards, when appropriate investigation has taken place.
The votetaker has five days in which to acknowledge a vote. This is
because the votetaker has a RealLife[TM]. There are, believe it or not,
sometimes more important things in this world than Usenet.
