NOTICE: Fast Track Replace Committee Permanent Members... FAILS
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
The Committee has received objections to the Fast Track Request for the
proposal to Replace Committee Permanent Members with Infrastructure
Members, on the following grounds:
A. That alternatives to the term "Infrastructure" should have been
considered (there had been a suggestion to use "Elected" and
"Appointed" members).
B. All such rule changes should be decided by Vote, rather than Fast
Track.
C. That the whole of the Committee should be elected.
The committee sees some merit in objection A, and therefore rejects
the Fast Track request and recommends a further RFD to address this
point.
As to B, the matter is covered by the following wording in the rules:
Any changes to these rules, or those in the companion documents,
shall be proposed in an RFD.....
If the change is trivial, or an obvious consensus has emerged, then
the "fast track" method may be invoked. However, if a petition to
have a Vote is received from 4 or more people, then the matter
shall be decided by vote.
The Committee wishes to indicate that it would normally allow fast
tracks of this nature unless such a petition were to be received.
As to C, the Committee wishes to point out that non-elected members
have always been a feature of the Committee and this RFD maintains
that state of affairs. It would take a completely separate RFD to
change that.

I look forward to a new RFD, thanks for thinking about this, Committee.
To all: I didn't object formally to the words but I am sort of glad
someone did as we will hopefully get a better worded RFD now.
Full points to all involved, except the secessionists, eh?
