HD recorder with twin Freeview + DVD recorder
Hi,
I currently use mythtv with a freeview tuner and have got tired of the
amount of time I seem to spend keeping it working. I also run out of
disk space frequently and was about to buy a new hard disk when I
realised I should probably by a dedicated set top box instead. My other
motivation is the high power usage. A friend worked out that keeping my
mythtv box running 24/7 costs about £100 per year.

I am looking for a freeview hard disk recorder with two tuners and
which can also archive things to DVD. The reason we run out of disk
space is because of things we would like to watch again months or years
later. I imagine even a 160G hard disk would suffer from this problem,
it would just take longer to get there. Hence the reason for wanting a
DVD recorder.

I have spent literally hours searching but I have not found one example
of this combination of features. I just wanted some confirmation that
there is no product with all these features.

Assuming it does not exist what would people recommend as a compromise.
I either drop the DVD recorder and try to archive using a usb link and
my PC or a separate DVD recorder, or drop the extra tuner and maybe buy
a separate freeview tuner so I can watch a different chanel live.

How much hassle is it archiving from a set top box to dvds via a PC?
(By the way I use linux).
How much hassle is it archiving from a set top box to a dvd recorder?
If you have twin tuners how frequently is the extra tuner actually
used?

thanks for any advice/information.
