Humax PVR -9200T .17 months old Freezing problem
This sounds like a hardware fault that has come about with use , rather than
the usual software type of problem. However I thought I would give you guys
a try to see if anybody has met it.

Machine purchased in Nov 06 . Has worked perfectly since then. including
with latest software update since january 08.

Has now suddenly developed what appears to be a major fault.

When turned on, Hummy will initially work properly whether watching live tv
or a Hummy recording.
However after a few seconds or sometimes a minute or so the picture being
viewed will freeze ( sometimes with a slight shake - sometimes a complete
freeze)
The sound will continue normally for a few more seconds and then this too
will fail.

In this state the machine cannot be turned off either by the remote or the
front of machine buttons. Neither can any other control buttons be used.

The machine has then to beturned off either by unplugging or via the rocker
switch at the back. I have tried both.

When turned on again and loaded the machine will work normally for a short
period and then fail in the same manner again. Perhaps there is a slight
correlation between period turned off ( say 30 secs vs 10 Mins ) and period
before failure ( say 20 secs and 1 minute).
As I say, the phenomenon is exactly the same whether viewing TV or a
recording.

The HD recordings appear to be intact . They are all listed and on just one
occasion since problem arose yesterday I was able to watch a one hour
recording with no problem. I thought the problem had corrected itself . Left
Hummy on standby overnight and my wife reported this morning that the
machine froze very quickly after being turned on. ( Note that my own
experience is when turning on from a power off situation ) .

Have gone through the power off /on cycle since then several times with no
repeat of last nights mini success.

Purchased from John Lewis , I am currently searching for the purchase
receipt.

Any thoughts welcome.

many thanks

Richard

Re: Humax PVR -9200T .17 months old Freezing problem
Its me again .

I found that somebody (Chris ) had reported a similar sounding probelm on
www.hummy.org .

Martin had suggested
"Unplug the aerial; switch it on; if you now have control do a reset to
default settings; then turn if off again; plug the aerial back in and do
another reset to defaults (which will scan for channels). Let us know how it
goes."

It worked for Chris.
Its early days , but it may have worked for me also.
Hope it assists somebody else.

regards

Richard
