TVonics DVR 250 (Pre Freeview Playback)
I have a TVonics DVR-250 that is now a year old...this machine is pre
Freeview Playback and has a problem in displaying the MHEG associated with
BBC Radio channels.

At times it will quickly decode the MHEG and I get the logos displayed and
can gain full access to the BBCi menu as well as being able to utilise the
BBCi screensaver by pressing 0.

However ,mainly in the evening, the MHEG remains stuck in the initial MS-DOS
type screen as it first appears and cannot decode the MHEG any further.

Is there an explanation for this?- I have re-booted the machine on a number
of occasions but this resolves nothing.

Are TVonics ever going to issue an OTA upgrade to modify these machines as
the MHEG for the BBC channels was modified anyway during 2007?

I think that software support for this early TVonics PVRs has been lacking.

That's because the software was written in Welsh and then translated by
the Japanese :)

No, there's no irony ,at all....at least only to the smart-alecs who I see
still infest this newsgroup.

In every other respect the machines contiues to perform faultlessly exactly
as per its specification when I bought it....so ,as they say,up yours

Thanks...

Check back in google - I've been quite complementary 'on spec' to these
machines in the past and would probably (if I wasn't a geek and didn't
want more custom functionality to _my_ liking) choose these in
preference to all other non-TiVo/Toppy machines out there. After all
they are well designed, easy to use, value for money, fine skoda quality
and I do hope you (and others) find an update for MHEG issues.

I just prefer rolls-royces, and the better support that comes about.

Please take offense of my posting _now_ because _you_ chose in the first
place to be offensive (in the spirit of a 'socialist worker' thug) to a
few of the kind helpful folk here (and uk.tech.digital-tv where I've
also sent it for further display) and adopted a purile attitude (and
stupid moniker) aimed at unsettling proper PVR technical debate -
something which has been proved you know little about.

And now you are asking for help and pity?

The mistake was entirely mine - I should have known better than to pose the
question in this Newsgroup with people like you monitoring it....
