as-per subject, which is the best cheap-end PVR that has a proper

Season-passes don't quite work in the UK at the moment. The broadcasters
are still getting their act together.

They work fine on my Topfield with MyStuff, but that won't interest
the frugal OP.

And on a BabelTV, also not (yet) for the frugal purchaser.

Cheers,

Mark.

p.s. Disclaimer... I work there.

I assume £150 for a Humax is out of budget?
The series link feature works well so far , but it's not available on all
channels - something that will affect all freeview PVRs except the Topfield
which uses a different EPG

It does? I know there are TAP options to use other EPGs, but I thought
it used the Freeview one OOTB. I have MyStuff configured to use the
Freeview EPG. Or am I missing something?

BTW, which channels are reliable for series link so far?

My bad wording.
IIRC it uses the same basic guide , but then does the series link stuff in
an independent fashion

>BTW, which channels are reliable for series link so far?

I tend to only use the major ones which all work.
Don't think Virgin One does though.

A Toppy firmware update is 'imminent' which should confer the ability to
use the series link info in the EPG. But otherwise, yes, it's done by
TAPs. They use word searches on the EPG (restricted if necessary to
particular channels and times) to automatically set programme timers.

Good news.

Branson too busy up in a balloon, or possibly stuck on a train? :-)

Which broadcasters are currently transmitting season information ?

That is series link. Or it will be when the broadcasters get their act
together.

Just to note that that's /not/ series link. It's ... it's what you typed:
words searches on the EPG. It's not what the OP was asking about.

published to the world and its significance made known.
He had gone straight on working. As soon as he saw what the photograph
was, and what it meant, he had covered it up with another sheet of paper.
Luckily, when he unrolled it, it had been upside-down from the point of
view of the telescreen.
He took his scribbling pad on his knee and pushed back his chair so as
to get as far away from the telescreen as possible. To keep your face
expressionless was not difficult, and even your breathing could be
controlled, with an effort: but you could not control the beating of your
heart, and the telescreen was quite delicate enough to pick it up. He let
what he judged to be ten minutes go by, tormented all the while by the fear
that some accident -- a sudden draught blowing across his desk, for
instance -- would betray him. Then, without uncovering it again, he dropped
the photograph into the memory hole, along with some other waste papers.
Within another minute, perhaps, it would have crumbled into ashes.
That was ten -- eleven years ago. Today, probably, he would have kept
