Humax PVR-8000T strange behaviour
This all happened a few weeks ago.

I had a recording which I was ready to view. I pressed "play" to start
it and then fast-forward to skip the adverts. After a few seconds the
picture froze and the box didn't respond to the remote control. After
another 20 or 30 seconds there was an error message and the box
re-booted. This is the first time I have ever seen this happen.

When it had re-booted and I went to the main menu screen, something was
wrong. There was an extra "games" icon at the bottom (I have never seen
this before) and the "video cassette" icon at the top was missing. I was
frightened that all my recordings were lost.

I decided to re-boot by doing a power-off and power-on. Thankfully the
recordings icon re-appeared, but the games icon had now gone. I tried
playing the same recording, but the same freeze/reboot/changed icons
sequence occurred. A power-off and on restored the box to normal
operation. I did check and I was able to play a game.

I was able to use the skip function from the "play" icons to move over
the "bad" bit of the recording, in order to watch the rest of the program.

Why does the game icon disappear?
Is there any way to access it when the box is operating normally?

I've been happy with the 8000T, except:-
1) you can't watch a recording from the hard-disk while it is recording
a new program.
2) [unlike the Tivo] it can't keep track of where you were upto in
viewing a particular recording if you start to view another recording.
It sort of forces you to complete viewing a program before starting to
view another [on the TiVo I watch all kind of things partially and out
of order]

I now have a PVR-9200T (next posting)
