Sky HDTV to PC recording
Hi,
I want to use the HDMI output from my sky digibox to connect to my PC
via a PCIe card or external unit, so that I can record HDTV on my PC.
As far as i know my graphic card is HD DRM compatible, but does
anybody know who makes hardware in the form of thePCI express card or
similar.... or has anybody done this?
Or am I just being hopeful?
TIA
Peter

Hardware exists, eg:
http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/intensity/
but the card doesn't allow capture from a copy protected source. HDCP
will always get in the way of what you're trying to do as it's precisely
what it is designed to prevent! DRM != HDCP

Is it that the card won't record HDCP media or that the source won't
recognise the card as an HDCP compliant destination and therefore won't
provide HD content? I don't know too much about HD stuff, but I'm led to
believe that's one way HDCP works, do you know if the HDCP stuff is
embedded in the video signal too?
