BBC Radio
Is anyone else having occasional problems with 11.954GHz Horizontal
from Astra 2A? That's the transponder with BBC Parliament and the BBC
radio stations.
I'm seeing runs of bit errors on it. I've tried all the usual:
switching off DECT phones, CT2 phones, wireless networks, etc.
All the other transponders, including the cross-polarized ones (with
worse signal-to-noise ratios) on Eurobird seem OK.
(Been noticing this since Christmas Eve.)

I've not noticed anything. I record lots of R4 shows using a quad LNB on
my minidish feeding a FTA satellite recorder and it hasn't complained.
However, I have had problems with BBC [only] radio streams on my Sky
box, though it was years ago when they were on different transponders.
They would regularly became unlistenable with so much dropout, and a
reboot always cured the problem.

The day after posting this, I went out and looked through the dish
(it's a mesh one) and towards the sky where the satellites should be. I
see a single willow branch (whipping about in the wind) about 20 yards
away that could be occluding the path.
This will probably mean that there's no signal come the summer, and
I'll have to persuade the neighbour to give his tree a haircut, or the
dish will need re-siting. Bum!
Only my DVB-S PCI card is complaining at the moment. The digiboxes
aren't moaning yet, though the signal quality is hovering between 50%
and 60% on that transponder.
