Hmm new problem here.

Basically when I press the tv guide on my standard sky box the screen is 
half purple!

I've trying reconnecting everything and disconnecting everything still 
the purple screen is there.

Any ideas what this might be ?

Sounds like a purity problem with the screen, if it's a CRT try a good 
degauss, flat panels I know nothing about.

Yehbut  it only appears on the EPG.

As a first step, you must establish whether this is a problem with the 
Sky receiver or your TV.

How is your Sky box connected to the TV?  SCART lead or RF (aerial) 
co-ax cable.

If you have been using a SCART lead, unplug the SCART and try an RF 
connection to a vacant channel on your TV.  Conversely, try a SCART 
lead, if you have been using a RF connection.

If the symptoms occur with both types of connection, this would suggest 
a problem with the hardware in your Sky box (or with the picture 
configuration in the Sky set-up menu).

If the symptoms occur with the RF connection only - or with the SCART 
connection only, this points to a problem with your TV.  To confirm, try 
a different TV.
