Sky+
Hi I am thinking of getting Sky+ are there any deals out there. Also will I
be able to use my old Sky box in another room without signing up and paying
for multiroom or will the installers only install two feeds to the Sky+ box
and only install a twin LNB?

I just want the old box in another room to watch the free channels as my
wife has to watch her soaps when they are on not later so she could watch
corrie while I watch something else and record another programme at the same
time.
Thanks Ron

The installers will supply a quad LNB. However, they will only install
two feeds to your new Sky+ box, unless you subscribe to multiroom.

Once the installers have departed, there is nothing to prevent you from
installing a third feed from the LNB to your old Sky receiver in another
room. However, reception will be restricted to the Free to Air Channels
(which include all BBC and ITV channels plus Sky News and many other
channels), unless you have a working viewing card - or purchase a
"Freesat from Sky" card.

Channels 4 and five used to be FTV (Free to View - encrypted). To view
FTV channels, you don't have to pay a regular subscription - but you
still require a viewing card). With the recent introduction of Freesat
from the BBC/ITV, these channels may become FTA before too long.

When ours was installed a month ago, I just asked the installer to leave the
old feed in place and connect it to the new LNB, then I moved the cable into
the bedroom at my leisure and now just use our old digibox for Freesat from
Sky.

Channel 4, More 4, E4 have been FTA since 6th May.

Not the 6? regional advert feeds of C4 used by the Sky EPG (mapped to 104
by the smartcard) - the (1) free feed needs to be added manually.

The FTA Channel 4 is the London variant. It only needs to be added manually if
you are using a Sky digibox. A PC solution or standard FTA box receives it
normally as of course does a Freesat box.
