Sky HD box crashes
Yesterday I paused the news for a few minutes. When playing it, at the
end of the news, the HD box froze, then switched off with a loud click.
Then tonight I was recording two programmes at once while the box was in
standby. At the end of the two minute padding time again the box
switched off with a loud click. When recovered, the first recording was
marked "Failed: technical fault - 12" and the second "Clashed". I
checked the signal levels and quality, all OK except that the second
input was slow to display the result. I don't know if the delay was
significant.

Mine did this a few times before giving up and dying completely when
the power unit went. I had to buy a new one. However this new one has
done the freeze and crash at the end of a programme thing once in the
4 weeks I've had it, so I'm wondering if this is a software bug and
the power unit failing was unconnected. It always seems to be when I'm
recording something and watching a HD channel or recording 2 things,
one of which is HD.
I also find that if you forward through ads at 30x speed after about 3
mins when you want to start watching again and press play it suddenly
jumps about 5 mins, but if you press rewind quickly enough it goes
right back and the extra mins just go. Quite a few bugs to iron out it
seems.

Open the box up, and check for bulging capacitors on the PSU card.
